PROVOST MARSHAL (ARMY) DECORATES NEWLY PROMOTED OFFICERS AT HQ NACMP
The Provost Marshal (Army), Major General Mathias Oyinmeibi Erebulu, has decorated senior officers of the Headquarters who were promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Nigerian Army. The decoration ceremony took place at the Headquarters Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police conference room on Friday, 17 April 2026, with a total of 3 officers decorated to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
In his remarks, the Provost Marshal (Army) thanked God for the opportunity to witness the ceremony. He expressed his gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, for finding officers of the Corps worthy of promotion, adding that 17 out of 18 officers presented were graciously promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Maj Gen Erebulu charged the officers to double their efforts and not rest on their oars, as it would be extremely difficult to get the same number of officers promoted to the rank of Colonel.
He further stated that their performance in their courses and subsequent areas of deployment will determine their next promotion, and urged the officers to put in what it takes for the system and for their careers. He also thanked the families of the decorated officers for keeping the home front, urging them not to deviate from the peace they provide at home. He ended his remarks by thanking everyone for coming.
Earlier in his remarks, the Chief of Army Standard and Evaluation, Maj Gen TB Ugiagbe, congratulated the decorated officers, adding that to whom much is given, much is expected; therefore, their tasks have increased.
Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the newly promoted senior officers, one of the beneficiaries, Lieutenant Colonel TB Pilla, expressed happiness and honour to God for His unfailing guidance throughout their careers. He also appreciated the COAS for finding them worthy of the elevation, and described their promotion as a call to greater responsibilities, loyalty, and dedication to the Nigerian Army and the nation at large.
The event was attended by seasoned senior officers, both serving and retired, which included the Chief of Army Standard and Evaluation, Maj Gen TB Ugiagbe, Major General EO Udoh (Rtd), Col DML Danwalang (Rtd), and some government officials. Also in attendance were the Chief of Staff, commanders, Principal Staff Officers of the Headquarters, officers from within and outside the Headquarters, families, and well-wishers.
